I love it!!!

Ok, remember when I was talking about my new favorite things? Well, I have a new new favorite thing. It's from the same artist, Claire Mojher, from whom I purchased the amazing little portraits. I asked her to do a little portrait of me and my little "family" and she did such an amazing job. I knew it was going to be wonderful, but come on... is this adorable or what?! She also suprised me with a little portrait of my Tiger and her hedgehog. I am SO in love with them!!! Thanks Claire!

Austin Film Mixer at Mother Egan's

The director speaking tonight was a University of Texas graduate named Jeff Stolhand. It was very interesting to hear his experiences and insight with the process of making films. Its always nice to do a little mingling with others in the local film scene. Uh-oh, its past my bedtime.

Teddy Bears (Tiger Bears) and Hedgehogs

Awww... Isn't my little Tigerlily adorable with her new hedgehog? I love bringing home presents for her. She is always so appreciative.

She also loves her new little hotdog. Another time...

Flea Circus and a thought

I spent the past two evenings working on an independent film called Flea Circus. I got to play a late 1950's college student drinking in a bar with a friend (and flirting with the busboy). It's always great getting to meet local actors and filmmakers. I get so inspired. It was fun, but I will be napping off and on today to get ready for my normal school teaching schedule, after getting home the past two mornings at 6am and 5:00am. There are only 12 more teaching days left for the school year. I can't believe it. This year, already over, wow! I am looking forward to summer, but I hope it doesn't go by in a blink like the rest of the year.

*I also wanted to add something that I started thinking about last night. While waiting around to be called to set, I was reading and listening several girls/women going through magazines and at first I smiled to hear them say... 'I don't like looking at fashion magazines because they make me feel bad about myself'. I understand that, depending on how you feel about yourself, or what your goals may be. What happened next, is what actually frustrated me. They started to "cut up" the women on every page of the magazine, pointing out what they viewed as flaws from "being too old to do whatever...", "being out of style", "who does she think she is?", "she's trying to stay young". I don't know...I am certainly not innocent in the judging and labeling myself and others category, far from it. I guess its just frustrating to be reminded that women are so critical of each other instead of supportive of their differences (which are often strengths). There is already a shortage of parts for "real women"; and I usually hear women, more often than men saying what women "should" look like (I've been guilty too I hate to admit). Male characters are respected and adored in all shapes and sizes. Female characters, not so much. I admire people that live life their way and believe in themselves, and to heck with the naysayers. Ladies, if I may say... let's take it easier on ourselves and each other. I'm going to do my best to take my own advice.

Laters,
Misty

Some of my new favorite things...

I'm really late in posting these, but here are some pieces of artwork I've recently collected. The drawings are originals by a wonderful Etsy artist, clairemojher. (In fact Claire is currently working on a little portrait of me and my tiny Tiger) The narwhal print is from the now famous theblackapple artist, Emily Martin. I couldn't resist them. Jealous?

Got it!

I did some more searching for fixes online and I found it! Yay!

Now, good-night for real.

Problems with Comments

I have been spending a lot of time the past few days trying to figure out why comments will not show up on my blog. Hopefully I will eventually get some feedback from someone, because I cannot seem to figure it out on my own.

Good- Night.

Wardrobe Fittings, searching for a home, slacking, etc.

Man, I have been a slacker when it comes to my online stuff lately. This time of year is when my teaching job is taking up pretty much all of my free time.

I did go and have my wardrobe fitting for Flea Circus Tuesday. That was fun. Jane Clarke over at Amelia's Retro-Vogue & Relics was so nice. I got a cute little outfit to make me look like a college student in the fifties... awww!

I am still on the hunt for a home/duplex to buy by August. I'm so excited and really nervous at the same time. I guess I never really thought about how much time and energy would be involved in the search.

I have also been working on a future project with some acting friends of mine that I think will be a lot of fun. Top secret for now though. :o)

I can't believe I haven't posted the little portraits that I bought from a wonderful and fun artist that I found on Etsy. I think I will do that this evening.
