It seems to be going around, but I have to say I am really enjoying my spring cleaning this year. Maybe it's the cleaning that I have been doing for my yoga workstudy. I don't know, but I am finally really enjoying the process of cleaning and allowing myself time to really enjoy cleaning, and arranging things in my space. It's been a while since I've really enjoyed my home, so this is nice. I still have fun making art messes and playing in my garden too though. ;-) Here are some pics of my Belinda's Dream rose beginning to burst with blooms after all of the rain we had. I love these roses. They are so easy to grow and the flowers look like porcelain sculptures.

My little secret garden
I thought I'd also add the song that has been stuck in my head for a few days. That We Are Young song keeps getting stuck too. It's SO catchy...

A Yay Day!
Today, after getting things done that I had to do, I did some things that I guess I also had to do, but I wanted to do, too. I went to one of my happy places, The Natural Gardener and got a few plants to cheer up my space. I got a bright coral geranium, some old spice and butterfly variety sweet peas, and a miniature white daisy. I did the mowing, which means weed eating my little yard. I weeded the flower beds, or as I like to say, "I got my hoein' on." Haha! I kid, I kid... Everything looks happy now. My pink skullcap is almost ready to bloom, my rosemary is huge, my Belinda's dream rose and salvia greggii are loaded with blooms. I even discovered where the adorable little house wrens that visit my garden live. They live in a blue plastic watering can hanging on my neighbor's patio wall. Hee-hee!
It doesn't look like much now, but hopefully those hot pink cages will be crawling with sweet peas soon, and that little daisy will make a nice little plant!
Tiger making a little nest in the weeds before I mowed.
The parrot feather and mosquito fish in my little container water garden stay so happy.
The poppies at The Natural Gardener were so gorgeous. Someday I'll have a huge space and plenty of funds for a poppy garden. :o)

Art Classes, Pastel Pigs and a New Painter
I am so tired right now, but after three classes in Round Rock today and a two hour workshop at Jerry's Artarama tonight; I also feel very lucky. I get to do what I love, teach art. :-)
Earlier in the day my 4-5yr olds painted papers for Eric Carle style caterpillars, then my 6-8 yr olds made Van Gogh style flowers in vases with oil pastels, and then my 9 -12 yr olds made chalk pastel PIGS and they turned out super cute!! (Not that the other projects weren't super cute too, but I forgot to take pictures of them. ha!) :-D
Then I ended the day teaching an adult class with just one student (because three people didn't show) at Jerry's, we had fun, and he did an awesome job, AND it was his first time ever doing any kind of painting!!

We did a seascape in watercolor, and a simple landscape in acrylic.

Family
This was a long week, but in some ways a nice one. Earlier in the week, I traveled with family to attend the funeral of a family member. Although it was a very sad occasion, it was nice to spend a little time with the family that was there.
After getting back into town, my friend, Carin, offered to have people over for snacks and for me to practice teaching a book binding lesson. Turns out I have several kinks to work out, so it was a good idea. Ha.
This Saturday morning, I am letting the stresses of this week go while enjoying a warm cup of Spiced Fig tea with honey, and planning my next attempt at a two hour book binding lesson.
Hope everyone is having a relaxing, stress free Saturday!
P.S. - This was my "brunch" today... I have a problem... (admitting is the first step to recovery right?!)

Ham and cheese filled brioche. Lord help me, they're delicious!!! :-P

Little drawings and paintings
I can't wait until I get my facial identification catalog! I plan to "go to town" on drawing for my forensic portfolio as soon as I can. While I wait, I've been working on sketching and watercolor painting.
Tonight, I've just been playing around with and sketching with watercolor pencils, and playing with filters on my recently downloaded GIMP program. Not sure why I liked the blue filter. Just did. It's a wonder I've been able to get any drawing done, my eyes have been so blurry the past week or so. I'm hoping it's just allergies and they will get back to normal soon.
