It's funny really...

although it just seems annoying at the moment, how long it has taken me to realize all of the behaviors and avoidance I have created mainly out of spite over the past year and a half. I've even avoided (in a way) looking my best out of spite, only hurting myself as a result. grrr... I got some amazing magical tools and advice from a wonderful little shop called 'The Herb Bar' less than two weeks ago, and I have to say... I can already feel and see awesome changes in me. My favorites so far are the Star Essence 'Sacred Sanctuary' spray and the 'About Face' drops, and the 'Lovin' Life' herbal tea. The people that work there are so nice, and helpful. I'd recommend it to anyone. Here's to being the best I'm meant to be without worrying about comparing myself or being compared to anyone else. Also, a friend of mine lent me the last two Harry Potter books on cd and they, along with memorizing lines and getting my accent down have been welcome distractions. <3 Ahhh... there I am. I've been hiding for a while now. It's good to be on my way back! :-)

P.S. - Holly, this is my attempt at competing with your fairytale hair. :-D

Messy Little Babies... plus

Awww... the poor little guys have to be outside and it's SO HOT! Anyway, these baby swallows are are so cute, but they make quite the mess. Man, I sure am saying things are cute a lot lately. Oh, well... haha :-)

I leave you with a pic I snapped of our Peter, Michael, and John from rehearsal this morning. Check out my mad hat making skillz, yo!

Wendy's Bedroom backdrop

Here are some more of our little paper backdrops from the theater camp I am helping to teach. We are working like crazy to get everything done in time for the performance Thursday. Luckily, I am pretty fast at drawing them and getting the kids ready to paint them.

It may not seem like much, but...

A couple of magical fairies visited me this past weekend; magical organizing fairies, that is... (Thank you, ladies!) Ten full trash bags and one full recycling bin later, and I have a room I can work in, and be proud to share with others. Just a few more bins to go through. Yay! Wish me lots of wonderful creative pursuits! :-)

Caterpillars

Finally, I have a nice little herd of black swallowtail caterpillars happily chomping on my parsley. They're so cute. :-D

The first few images

Here are the first few images I caught of my younger theater class group painting the backdrops for their 'Three Little Pigs' play. I drew the little houses out for them, and they did all of the painting. My battery died before I could take a pic of the cool 'Peter Pan' backdrops we are making for the older kid's play. It's all so cute. I feel lucky to be able to do this. :-)

Life...

Around noon, I drove to north Austin to pick up Spot's ashes. I've found a nice little place for them. When I handed him over to the vet, after he had passed, I asked if I could have a little of his fur, and a few whiskers. She put them in a little tin with some sweet stickers on the top.

After I got home, I did a little weedeating and discovered this little guy on the fence behind my tomatoes. I'm guessing he's one of the reasons I haven't had any pest problems on them. ;-)

This afternoon, I played with Tiger and her new little monkey. She seems to really be enjoying the newly cleaned carpet and house. I know I am. I've been enjoying spending the past couple of mornings helping to teach theater to two different groups of kids. I think I've been having as much fun playing the games and planning for our play as they have. I'll post some pics when we start getting backdrops painted and costumes made. hehe

Moving Forward

This week I am getting all sorts of things done. Once I get things in order around here, I will be setting up my little art workshop and moving right along. I never watch it but, yesterday, I caught a little bit of Oprah where they were making women over to look younger. One of the stylists on there told a woman that she needed to start getting cute for herself. I thought yeah... that's what I need to do to pull myself out of my Spotbear missing funk. Hopefully, after having everything cleaned in my house and redecorating and rearranging all of the rooms, I will start being able to bring old school Misty back! I've missed her. She's pretty fun, creative, silly, and an awesome dresser. I can do this, I'm a toughie! haha... Here's my start with my new summer dress. I may even use it for my character wardrobe Now, as my mother would say, I need to accessorize. ;-) hmmm...

The Power of Letting Go

This past Friday, I said goodbye to a friend that has been there for me countless times. My kitty, Spot, turned 16 on May 9th, but his health has been declining since he was 9 and diagnosed with kidney disease. I've done my best over the last seven years to keep him comfortable and well, but when I looked into his eyes Friday morning, I just knew that he was ready for me to let him go. He was great little companion, and a comfort to me many times. He was also a 'stinker' and a pain in my behind many times too. That's the thing about love though, the good stuff just kind of takes care of the bad stuff. I will miss my little Spotbear terribly and be hoping that he is happy, pain free, and able to swat at and growl at as many dancing guys as he wants.

This week has been a week of seriously letting go of many things in my life that I had held onto for too long out of love. I am giving myself over to trusting that there is a reason for all of this, a plan for me, that the stinging in my heart will not last for long. I can not see perfectly clear at the moment, but I feel that something wonderful is coming to me. I am not just sitting back and waiting for a miracle. I am doing what I have to do to be me. Cause you know what? I can't be anyone else.

I'm working on putting together a little collage of my little Spotty Pants, and will probably be doing some drawings and paintings of him for a little while. It'll be nice to have the time to do it.
Have a great week, everyone! -Misty
