Owls

Owls. I have been afraid of them since I was a little girl. I saw them everywhere; I still see them. They are on street signs, in trees, on the side of the road, on the lawn, flying in front of the car; and usually looking right at me. I'm not talking about decorations, even though I was born in the 70's. No matter how many times I've seen them, I haven't quite shaken my fear of them. I even went up to a person that was holding a live Great Horned Owl for teaching. Him telling me that its just a cat with wings didn't help either.
Now, I don't want to put anybody off by getting too new-agey, but I started looking up information about totem animals, power animals, and shadow animals. I'm thinking if ever there was a shadow animal with my name on it, its the owl. Also, the owl happens to be my birth animal. It's all so interesting, but I'd just like to not hyperventilate when I see one. I'm workin' on it.

*No offense to all you owl lovers out there.

Last Night's Film Mixer and stuff...

I went to the Film Mixer at Mother Egan's last night. It was interesting, inspiring listening to Marta McGonagle talk about her experiences in breaking into the L.A. acting scene. It's always fun to meet with other Austin actors and film-makers. And still... I am so surprised at how many people never go to these.

This afternoon I am working on getting a few cute little dog/puppy pins ready to go up on Etsy and watching a little Torchwood on DVD. (I'm so glad I live in a time where there is Netflix.)

Tonight I am going to a midnight movie to see 'Wanted'. I can't wait!

Back to work...

Summer Acting Work

Last night I had my second class with Mona Lee. Well, I had taken her Cold Reading class a few years ago, and I wanted to work with her again. She is so amazingly intuitive. She does a great job of pushing and stretching actors. It's a great class, with so many great people to learn from. After only two classes, I already feel like I have made some friends. I can't wait to see what comes next.

My ' I Heart Men In Makeup' Weekend Extravaganza!!!

That's right I REALLY DO love men in makeup. Well, a couple at least. This was a great long weekend.

Friday started off great because it was the first day of my 'teacher' summer vacation, which is always wonderful. Friday night I got to see Eddie Izzard at the Paramount with my sister and Steve and Jeff and Carin. It was SO much fun! Eddie, my dear, you are a delight! We had awesome balcony seats. I tried to take pictures, but my phone camera just made it look like an empty stage with bright lights. Oh-well...

Saturday was great because it was a Saturday and because I got my Buffy Season 8 #15 in the mail, so... yay! I also finally got to watch the 'Sine Qua Non' episode of Battlestar Gallactica online.

Sunday afternoon I went to an Agency meeting (for my acting). I got a lot of good information and I also volunteered to work at the agency some this summer. I'm excited about that. Sunday night, I got to go see The Cure with my friend Carin. Wow! It was SO much fun! (again) I can't believe how great it was. They played for three hours, that's right, three. They even did three encores. Sigh... Robert Smith... you started me on my love of men in makeup... Thanks for that. Hee-Hee... This might be an awesome summer. I hope so.

Here's a pic of me and Carin at The Cure show. It's hard to see us cause we're in black. LOL!

*Better get to sleep.
