Trip to the nursery

Today was kind of cool(er) and overcast, so I thought it would be a nice day to go to The Natural Gardener. Since, it has been so hot, I was happily surprised to see so many flowers, vegetables, and fruit trees in full production. Butterflies and bees were everywhere! I had to go back home and get Tiger, so we could have a little fun together. :-) Here's a quick recap... hahaha

^ I just liked this. I want one. :-)

^ This was a cool little water feature in the butterfly garden area.

^ I really liked the effect this little mister created in the bog area of this water feature.

^ Orange and Pink... I love it! :-)

^ This senna tree and the Mexican Bird of Paradise in front of it made a great combo, but it's hard to see the yellow flowers on the senna tree in this pic.

^ Just thought this was a cute little corner.

Here's one way I know I am a plant nerd: Samwise, in Lord of the Rings - Return of the King, was potting up one of these toward the end of the film. LOL!

^ I thought the top of this water feature seemed weird until I started noticing that a bunch of birds, bees and dragonflies, etc. were using it to get water. Pretty cool!

^ The herb garden area. Again... I want one.

^ Just thought this little purselane plant was really cute.

^ Tiger got thirsty.

^ Mmmm... figs...

^ Isn't this tree adorable? Looks like something out of a storybook.

^ Tiger met the goats. :-) She's very friendly.

^ Tiger stopped abruptly, and decided she'd like to sit on the rocks. (She tried both of them.)

^ GRAPES!!!

^ Last, I found this adorable stream. ( I WANT ONE OF THESE BAD!) Tiger was getting hot, so she climbed in and lay in the stream like a little hairy frog. LOL! Don't worry people, we went right home after this, and she is about to get a 'Lion Cut'. Once that happens, she will be footloose and fancy free. ;-)

This was a lot of fun. I want to get me a new camera, or at least a used one, that does not require new batteries every 5 to 10 minutes. I'm gonna' work on that.

Clearing out the old

I've been clearing out a lot of things that I have kept for a long time in boxes and have not looked at for years. I'm finding a lot of fun things, and getting rid of many things that no longer hold any power over me. It feels great to let these things go, and to find old friends... :-) What is striking me the most is how much of a different person I am now. (and that's awesome!)

I have a box of crafty things that were my mother's on craigslist at moment, so if you or anyone you know is interested... you know what to do...

Another thing that has occurred to me in the past few weeks is that for some reason I have for a while created a belief that wanting more than the basic things in life is selfish, or something to frown upon. Well, I'm here to tell you that is OVER. I shudder at the thought that I may have unintentionally discouraged anyone from wanting whatever they wanted. I have a long list of things that I want to keep in my life, create in my life, and enjoy, and the list just keeps growing... so look out people. :-D

Also, I am finding some useful things in these boxes. I found this old tape recorder of mine (it's not digital, but it works) in one of my boxes, and heck, I should be using this for my acting and recording over the old stuff on it, not keeping it in a box. Yay, for perspective!!!

I wonder if anyone would be interested in this GenuINE 1980's piggy (hippo) bank , complete with lock and keys... LOL! It's so cute, it needs a new good home. The sticker on the bottom says 4/1984 hahaha... So it's an antique - 25 yrs.

I found a recording of my mom talking... it was a nice surprise, I haven't heard her voice in a long time.

The cutest thing

If you know me, you probably know that although I LOVE animals of all kinds, there are a few types of birds that are on my "list", if you know what I mean. Well, house wrens are not on that list. I adore them. They are so... funny, little, and cute, and I love their song. Well, I had a little wren pick my backyard for nesting this past spring. In fact, the perfect place for her nest was decidedly my porch light fixture. I wanted a little wren in my backyard so bad, that I decided I could do without it for while. I haven't seen the wren in a while, but it's been so hot that I haven't looked for it that much. I decided to take a peek this morning, and I found the most adorable little nest full of eggs. I'm thinking they were probably abandoned long ago, but I carefully put it back up, just in case. Hee-hee... look at all of the kitty and Tiger hairs in the nest.

Enjoy! Happy Fourth of July Weekend Everyone!!! :-)

New flickr Set

I finally figured out a way to get the photos off of my cell phone that have been trapped ever since my sweet, but sometimes naughty Tiger chewed the cable for it. I bought this cool little USB port for my microsd chip. So, yay! I am setting up a new set on Flickr just for photos. I kind of forgot how many great memories had been saved on this little phone over the past year. Gotta love technology. :-)
